Treasured Friend. Inseparable Friend.

I lost a treasured friend,

The little dog who used to lay her gentle head upon my knee; and shared her silent thoughts with me.

She’ll come no longer to my call, no longer will she be looking up at me with those big brown eyes.

Although my eyes are filled with tears, I'm thankful for all the happy years; she spent by my side.

For her love and loyalty.

You were by my side, when I got up each day.

Waiting so patiently, for attention.

You were there at the door each night when I got home, waiting so eagerly for love.

You gave me a lifetime, of memories to hold.

Sunlight streams through my window pane and onto the spot on the floor.

Then I remember, it's where you used to lay, but now you are no more.

-----------------------------------------------------

I miss you so much, my four-legged friend.

I ask myself each day, if the pain will ever end?

Your loss is so hard, for one person to bear.

Because we were a team, an inseparable pair.

You always knew, if I was having a bad day.

You'd snuggle up close, to get my attention.

If that didn't work, you'd lay on the floor and wiggle around like a fool.

One way or another, you would brighten my day.

A million times I needed you,

A million times I had cried.

If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place, no one could ever fill.
