Drip Drop

Drip, drop, drip, drop.
A steady beat of water droplets hits the ground.
A loud crack of lightning,
Then, the deafning roar of thunder that follows.
I'm sitting, my breathing slow and shallow.
I was trying to slow my heart from the sprint I had just tooken down my road.
My cold, soaked body is shivering and shaking,
And I can hear my brothers playing video games in their room.
I slowly drag myself to my room with slow, resisting feet.
The pitter patter of rain can still be heard in my fortress.
I lay down on my soft bed and listen to the musical harmony.
My eyes close, and I escape the rain to a world of shine.
