A Young Little Boy

This is the tragic story of a young little boy
Who committed suicide because they thought he was gross
It all began the day he realized
That he didn’t like girls, he only liked guys

He had an average life, with parents and all
They really loved him, and always gave him a hug
But he still was afraid of saying the truth
Because what would happen then? Oh, what would they do?

And as time went by, the grown-up boy thought
“I’m sure they’ll still love me because I’m their son”
But when he told them both, his daddy got mad
Kicked him out of the house, and told him “never come back”

He was left on the streets, with no shelter or food
And this now grown-up boy didn’t even know what to do
Didn’t have any friends, he was all alone
To survive, to live through his life on his own

And wherever he went, they said he was sick
They always called him names, they called him a sin
“When you die, you shall go to Hell, hated by God”
But the boy never listened, he’d heard it all before

And as more years passed, it all became worse
To the point where he just didn’t care anymore
So he one day decided he would end his life
If it could stop his pain, he would gladly die

One average noon, he got hold of a knife
Made it cut through his skin as he ignored his own cries
It was painful at first, but then it faded away
As the now grown-up boy fell, suddenly dead

Some years after that, they all heard his tale
They felt proud of themselves for following God’s ways
“Well, because after all, the kid was a sin,
And he was right to die, he didn’t deserve to live”

Now I see this and wonder, I wonder and think
Who are we to decide who dies and who lives?
I say they’re all gross for thinking that way
But who’ll listen to me? I’m still underage

I say we’re all humans, no matter what we like
We all have our opinions, and we’re different like that
But they always tell me “You’ve gotta be kidding!
How can you say that about a bunch of gay kids?!”

This was the tragic story of a young little boy
Who committed suicide because they thought he was gross
Instead of bearing the pain, he decided to die
Because he didn’t like girls, he only liked guys

I have a very strong love for the LGBT community, and I wrote this poem when I was just finding out about how people from this community are treated in the world, especially by the church.
