Memories

Time silently slips pass us,
droplets of sand cascading down forever,
our life flying by without a trace,
slowly dying as time is brutally severed.

He stared at me with soft brown eyes full of fear,
I can not do a thing to save him from this pain,
helpless, he cries a single tear,
he has nothing to gain.

Fighting the urge to scream,I watch him slip away,
his sand quickly bottoming out,
he has nothing to say,
leaving me to do without.

Without a single word, he closes his eyes for the last time,
a chorus of angels in jubilant glee,
I suddenly cannot to stay where there was no one to find,
ignoring the blissful chorus as I flee.

Time has passed since that day,
my life has never been the same,
no longer is in pain,
but I still miss him every waking day.

This his memorial of his final days,
a warning to all to appreciate life,
no matter if we are to busy to stay,
death will find you with his scythe.

I learned the hard way,
he took my father with him,
leaving me here to stay,
he will wait for me some time.
