Ode to an Angel

Her laugh was contagious
Eyes an ever-concerned deep brown
We’d sit and talk for ages
I’d always smile with her around

Worried about the smallest stuff
Who I was with and where I was
She never thought she gave enough
But what she gave the best was love

She left so suddenly
Like a rug ripped from under me
Tears of joy I know she cries
As she watches from the skies

I’m determined to make her proud
Be successful like she wanted
Would brag to anyone around
Her precious babies she always flaunted

She’s gone now when I need her most
But I know she’ll appear
As she sits next to the highest host
Grinning ear to ear
