Motivational Posters

That woman jogging on sand dunes never thought she would have her photo hung as a motivational poster,
Especially in a middle school, where kids don’t have the time to read,
And why must it be hung on the gym walls?
I looked up and immediately regretted it,
Because while I wondered if the woman in the picture knew she was going to be an anonymous motivation,
I was struck down by a basketball,
Or a person faster than me at running,
(I’m a slow person, obviously—they never like those kinds of people)
While the poster looked down at me with a plastic smile,
‘A journey of a thousand steps begin with just one small step’
Thanks for the heads-up, jerk.
I looked away for two reasons,
One because I needed to recover from my latest accident,
Two? I didn’t want anyone to think that I talk to motivational posters.
Yep.
Nothing but trouble.
