Do You Care?

Do you care as the tears flow down my face
The face that you once used to hold so close
With tender fingers stroking my smooth skin
That felt electrified to your touch?

Do you care as the heart that once beat for you
Continues to beat throbbing with pain
Yearning for you to return the key
Or to take my heart back and keep it safe from harm?

Do you care as my hazel eyes turn a dimmer shade of green
Hollow with regret and agony
Seeing the future that will never be
Along with the past that you and I know all too well?

Do you care that I’m still trying
Desperately to keep us from falling apart
Even though you don’t seem to want to try
Yet I can’t seem to give up hope?

Do you care that when we met
We instantly clicked
In a way that we wanted to grow
Yet little did we know, we had fallen in love?

Do you care as you prepare your clever verbal blow
That hits the core of my heart with deadly precision
Which severs my heart strings and chills my bones
But most of all breaks my heart that you once held with care?

Do you care as you hear my strangled sobs and sharp breaths
Accompanied with the tears you see beginning to flow
Signaling a pain that you cannot imagine how it feels
To bear the heartbreak that you brought upon me?

Do you care that I still love you
In a way I never even thought I could
Despite the way you’ve torn me apart
Without remorse?

Do you care that I still cry over you
To this very day
I still weep for what we used to be
While you’ve moved on without me?
