A soldier comes home

as taps plays so slowly a little girl cries,
"Mommy whey are they burrying daddy!?
he promised when he got back he'd play with me!"
the sound of twenty-one guns as they fold
the flag tight, after they're done they hand it
to the fallen soldier's wife.
they lower the casket
deep into the ground,
taps always playing in the backround.
everyone is all dressed in black
no one is happy that the soldier is back.
he learned the hard way that freedom is never free.
he leaves behind a wife and a daughter,
who is only three.
