Ann's Hidden Mask

There’s a girl that hides who she is
And who she has become
She puts on a smile to hide her fears
As she holds her swollen belly
She still a little girl who you do no know

Ann hides behind that woman’s mask
Left behind in the past
Watching those she loves leave her side
Staying behind as the others go
She left standing with the baby in her arms

You take the path that is best for you
But maybe that path was kept you behind
Ann gave her life up for him
And never looked at what it could do to her
Now she lives with her child
And the time that she had lost

Everyone grows there own way
Some longer than others
We hide behind a mask
That was once someone else

She took the path that led her to him
And now she’s 18 with a child of her own
With nowhere to run and nowhere to hide
She hides behind that mask
That will fall and show the fear she holds

Would she change what she could
Or would this bird live within the cage,
Hide everything that she was
Because she’s still a little girl
But took her step into the life she wanted
To be with the man she loved
And the child that was hers.
