A Child's Day in the Snow

White, crisp untouched snow
Untainted by humankind
Left as nature intended.

Pitter-pat
Crunch.

Children and cars
Taint the snow
With their essence
Footprints,
Gas emissions.

No snow stays pure.
No snow is meant to
Stay pure.
The life cycle
Slowly melting.

Blustering in everyone's faces
Reflecting and catching eyes.

Knee deep in slush and
Broken ice,
Racing toward the sewers.

Children of all ages charging
Down the tobogganing hills,
Spinning out of control.
Laughter.
