In The Rain

Here I sit in the rain.
Left in the cold,
forgotten, in pain.

How could you leave me?
How could you forget?
How could you leave me behind
Like a spent cigarette?

I've been hurt so many times.
I thought you were different.
But no, you just.
got up and went.

Didn't say good bye,
Didn't say anything.
Just left me cold and alone,
Like some old thing.

So here I sit.
Freezing in tears.
Being consumed
by all my old fears.

I'll remember not to let my guard down,
Keep the walls strong and sturdy.
Protect my heart
Don't let it get dirty.

Here I sit in the rain.
