When she met him,
She thought he was "the one".
Not thinking that what they did can't be undone
She cried for hours,
Thinking of ways to tell him.
That night she asked him to meet her by the football field where they first met.
She needed to tell him what she's been hiding underneath a smile.
They walked for a while, they talked for a while,
Remembering their greatest moments together
Until he asked her,
"What's on you mind?"
She was trying to find the words to say
What she's been hiding night and day.
When the words finally came,
He thought she was the one to blame.
She braced herself for his wrath
As he struck her across the face.
She lay there crying her eyes out,
Listening to him shout;
Shout things nobody could ever imagine.
Did he feel like more of a man when he knocked her down?
He probably got a kick out of watching her fall to the ground..
For a while, she believed him.
She believed she made the mistake
And deserved that punch in the face.
She cried alone;
Shut herself out from the world day after day.
She died inside a little more each second.
That's when he swore he loved her,
That's when she knew for sure,
She's finally had enough.
