The truth about cheerleading.

the life of a cheerleader. Oh, its not as glamorous as it would seem. Contrary to popular belief, we are not worshipped at our schools, nor are we the girls most sought after by the boys, or the envy of the average girl. Instead we are for the most part looked down upon as common sluts, easy girls who will sleep around. Of course were not all like that, but the few who are have tarnished our reputations. Were also looked down upon as morons, stupid ditzes who cant tell the difference between Napoleon Dynamite and Napoleon Bonaparte.

The truth? Were all very different, leading different lifestyles and persuing different goals. For some of us, we were pushed into cheerleading by our parents, forced to do something we arent really fond of. For others, cheerleading is our life. Some of us entered cheerleading to try and up our popularity, only to be disappointed with the results. Im not saying were hated. For the most part, we are well-liked for our positive attitudes. Thats another thing about cheerleaders. Were not always happy. We go through depression just like the normal teenager, even though we may seem like we have no troubles when were out screaming for our fans. Thats the mark of a good cheerleader, we have to stash all our problems inside and put on a happy face when we go out in front of our crowd. We are, after all, amazing actresses. And those of us who arent, well, you can tell when were out there. Standing in the back, eyebrows raised, look of disdain plastered on our face. Clapping unenthusiastically every so often. Im sure youve seen it before. Well, people just dont seem to realize how hard it can be to throw away your problems and be as happy as pie. They think were naturally bubbly, when in fact very few of us are.

But let's face it. We have personalities too. We're not all retarded. Get over it, don't judge us just because we wear a uniform and carry pom poms. We're not any stupider than the average person.

We do get pissed off when we're made fun of.Even if we do giggle and say "Oh its okay," just like a great actress would.

Cheerleading is not nearly as easy as it seems, k?

I'd like to see all of you try tumbling, stunting, and dancing in a three minute time period, sprinting to each of our formations and forcing ourselves to keep up our facials even when our muscles are screaming in protest.Having practices that last ALL day, using every minute of that time to run, jump, build, or climb stadium stairs.

Just because we don't play with balls, doesn't mean we're not a sport. Whatever though that's a losing battle. Until youre put in our shoes
