I'm a flame
Burning
Shimmering
Always wanting to shine brighter than the stars from up above
Always with big dreams that I'll go far
But people are cruel
Bringing me down
Always saying it's impossible
Just a small town girl
With barely two cents to my name
They're like the wind trying to blow me out

I'm the light of the moon as it disappears with the night
The light of the sun when it eventually will go out
I'm standing in a room
Seeing everyone else come and go
I cant tell who's moving fast and who's moving slow
I see my future as the days go by
I cant keep up with time and space
I feel like I'm waiting for the grand speed chase

This feeling I'm feeling
Deep inside
I'm hoping it'll soon pass me by
I cant go on living life in the past
Not everything is meant to last
Yet everything is going by so fast

I'm waiting for time to slow down
So i can take a breath
And look around
And enjoy the time i have
Because soon i'll become old
And my flame will die down
Until it's completely burnt out
And i'll have to take on a whole new meaning of life
And i'll have my own little flame to take care of
And protect her from the strong winds
My only hope would be to not fail her
Because that is my biggest fear
To fail
To fail her and myself and even my own mother
