From the Soul-Well: Shopping for Friends

It's hard to imagine on this face
an expression of shining unbridled joy
sprouting a grin from ear to ear
the porcelain face of a toy

This doll is not perfection at all
it's obvious flaws are always displayed
and yet it's still on a shelf
waiting for it's Someone's sashay

Passerby aren't attracted to this rag
as they shop for a prettier face
a brighter smile, a slimmer figurine
does no one know I'm in this place?

Hello! Get me out, I'm here for you!
I've been waiting so damn patiently
I gaze down imprisoned
by way of trashed memory

And yet no one stops for conversation
must I mask the mask as well?
Will no one hear my voice?
Will no one want my song?

I'm here, I'm here...
