I Want To Show Me

I’m too country for this place,
Even though this is the country.
I’m too redneck,
Too hick,
Too…me.
I want to go somewhere,
Where being me,
Is considered normal.
Where it’s cool to listen to country music,
And to talk with that accent.
Where being a tomboy,
Is accepted,
And not looked at,
Like some disgusting deformity.
I want to show who I am,
Who I can be.
But here,
No one wants that,
And I’m left being laughed at,
All alone.
