sunset

by silent brooks
the sun sets dear
its beauty hooks
those far and near
darkening skies plagued by light
gazing unto this peaceful night

soft rays shimmer
through tree tops
getting ever dimmer
as sunlight stops
shades of red, orange, and pink
after blood drown colors, the sun shall sink

once shadows fall
upon the land
engulfing all
who embrace its hand
gaze at fireflies in an endless jar
and lay to rest under the stars
