Every Hello has a Goodbye

The water clashes off the pier
and the sun sips the ocean blue as it dips low
to make it's way 'round again.

The brilliant gold reflects in the pools
sitting atop the cement walkway
as the girl with the broken smile
looks out over the rippling water.

another day has come and gone,
but she doesn't miss him any less.

The tears well up like oceans in her eyes
and roll over just the same.

A wisp of the cold salty ocean breeze
embraces her as she turns to walk back home;
flashbacks of late nights spent here holding hands
fading to black and white.

For the only thing she has left of him now is memories.
