It's Nice to See One Who Smiles

It’s nice to see one, who smiles,
Because all I do is wipe away tears.
All that’s left in me is a castaway,
Who at one time disappeared.

Yeah, I know, shit happens
But who am I to say
‘Wait, come back! Let me try to help!’
When all you long for is to fly away. . .

I envy those of eternal happiness
Spread across their lips, sparkling eyes;
But everyone feels that way, right?
Aren’t most people’s masks of bliss a lie?

I treasure every merciful second of clarity,
To experience that feeling of the earth slowing down;
With every kiss or stroke from him makes my heart soar.
My spirit grows lighter and lighter, hurt falling off like pounds.

It’s nice to see a man, who smiles,
Because so many suffer in silence;
Insecurities and feelings of having to prove himself as best --
Thinking that to be accepted that they must pass the test.

Yeah, I know, shit happens
But who am I to say
‘Wait, come back! Let me try to help!’
When all you long for is to fly away. . .

I sigh at the pizazz of mere perfection,
But I’ll spread my wings and fly
Knowing that I’m living the teenage dream anyway;
I’ve got to keep moving on, till’ I reach the sky.

I can’t give up, I won’t lose hope
I won’t forget what I love; I can’t let myself fall;
With God holding my hand, anything is possible;
I want my man’s comforting arms here, my cheeks blushing like a porcelain doll.

It’s nice to see a woman, who smiles,
Because so many only know how to cry;
So soft, so fragile, so complicated
Wanting someone to sympathize, but they only say goodbye.

Yeah, I know, shit happens
But who am I to say
‘Wait, come back! Let me try to help!’
When all you long for is to fly away. . .

I hate that I haven’t any control
Not being able to fully be myself;
Only when I’m alone with him
Is when I can take down my spirit from the dusty shelf.

Blowing off the dust, like ridding of bad memories
Seeing them only for a moment before they drift;
His shine stays on me, leaving a smile
I can breathe again, as the anxiety lifts.

It’s nice to see one, who smiles
Because all I do is wipe away tears;
All that’s left in me in a castaway
Who at one time disappeared.

Yeah, I know, shit happens
And who am I to say
‘Wait, come back! Let me try to help!’
When all you long for is to fly away. . .

I can’t help but to hurt with you
So do us both a favor –
Shine, shine, shine. . .
I promise you won’t regret it later.
