The Portrait

Those eyes told of unforeseen truth
and held a knowledge unmatched
they showed strength and courage
but most of all they showed love
They showed a determination,
having a fire inside of them,
that would never go out
the burning passion inside them
was strong enough to break down
the walls that people kept her
locked behind isolated
screaming out for someone to see,
for someone to catch a glimpse
of what they were doing to her
only one person broke through,
only one tried hard enough
to see the face behind the makeup,
the one that wasn't always perfect
who could be stubborn and naive,
those eyes were incomparable
to another person's on earth
even on the night she died,
those eyes continued to shine
as if it was their first time seeing
those eyes closed, but in his heart
they remained open for eternity
