A Sigh; Resigned

Take a deep breath, kid
There's no atmosphere for gasping agonies
In cold space
Close your eyes and count to ten
You've done it again

You're miserable when you stay
Why do you do it anyway?
Nothing here but stale sheets
Dislodged with yesterday's forgiveness
What went wrong?

You never learn

Is this your way of coping?
Poorly-bargained stress-relief?
Is this the place you cage your dreams?
Inside this petty fief?

Is this the way you want to stay?
Pending on resigned decay?
Is this what promises become?
Unravelled for a burning sun?

And what about the will to live?
You used to be so strong
But not even people and things could save you
From yourself in the end

You always saw the trap

What graven sin could not forgive?
What new crux of self-martyrdom?
What web of lies spun in unrest
Became your pity bed this time?

And so it comes to this:

You left the race unfinished
Your best resolve undone
But when in worlds dimished
Were you ever told to run?
