The Little Things We Never Remember Mean The Most

The sun beats down on pastel skin
So unharmed it soaks everything in
And the heat begins to rise above
The two down here so filled with love
And the waves wash away
Footprints of yesterday
Salt splashes tears on his arms
When the sun goes down...
A memory a moment
Goes by so fast
In the blink of an eye
It’s already passed
A kiss on the cheek
Leaves a wonderful sting
And it’s moments like these
That we live for
It’s the things we won’t remember
That mean so much more.
Nature sings from each direction
The birds and the bees are an orchestral selection
And all she wants is to remember this happened
Because it happened with him
The two hours they spent walking
The night when they couldn’t stop talking
The time he held her when no one else was around
When they danced to no other sound
She listened to his heart beat
He kept time with his feet
The moment he said I love you
Went by so fast
She blinked her eyes
And it had passed
He kissed her cheek
And it stung so great!
Surrounded by all these little things
That made the sweetest memories
Like being engulfed with his scent and his warmth
Not in the flowers he bought her
But in the first kiss they shared
Not in the movie they went to see
But the poem he wrote that confessed everything
And it’s moments like these
That we live for
It’s the words that we just won’t remember
That mean so much more.
