In the Graveyard
It took some time before I saw the beauty in the silent graveyard
before I heard the sweet whisper of the wind in dry leaves
who knew a place like this could bring such calm
the souls of these people they are long gone
to that better place, good and evil alike at the pearly gates
the cloaked man he sees us all as the same
as a new leaf falls, I wonder if it represents a dying child
or and old lady reaching out for her long lost man
and I pray that the soul isn't ripped all too soon away
the birds play this wonderful song to me
it is the song of the dead, the lost and the missed
how come swallows know this pain
I have no grave to kneel at, nobody is lost to me
my love is placed among the living ones
I was the very first to leave and the pain it strangled me
now I see the light of day, a new beginning
I see the beginning as a hand is held out
unknown warmth cradles me
before I heard the sweet whisper of the wind in dry leaves
who knew a place like this could bring such calm
the souls of these people they are long gone
to that better place, good and evil alike at the pearly gates
the cloaked man he sees us all as the same
as a new leaf falls, I wonder if it represents a dying child
or and old lady reaching out for her long lost man
and I pray that the soul isn't ripped all too soon away
the birds play this wonderful song to me
it is the song of the dead, the lost and the missed
how come swallows know this pain
I have no grave to kneel at, nobody is lost to me
my love is placed among the living ones
I was the very first to leave and the pain it strangled me
now I see the light of day, a new beginning
I see the beginning as a hand is held out
unknown warmth cradles me
