Two Reflections

She stands naked in front of the mirror,
Forehead crinkled
Glowering at her reflection
Shiny scalp
Brows naked
Eyelashes barren.

One breast double D,
Full, alive.
The other is gone,
Eaten away by cancer,
Caught too late.

A scar remains.

She sighs softly
Reaches for the eyebrow pencil
To begin her transformation.
He walks into the room,
Grabs her hand
Pulls her away from her reflection
Whispers,
"You've never looked more beautiful."
