A Dream...Or Was It?

I saw the light once that night
and truth was revealed to me
showing me the love I deserved
even though I had my doubts

Stars shined brighter than before
and fireflies did a special dance
as fairies made a necklace for me

And the rabbit in the moon
that I loved to look at
many nights as a child
smiled down at me, happily

A feeling so foreign to me
had taken over my heart
and I felt cared about
the thing that scared me most
brought me comfort that night

All too soon though,
that night faded away
and I was back in bed

looking out my window,
the moon was but a moon
no rabbit to be found

running down the stairs
to see my fairy friends
had all vanished without a trace
there was no reminder…
nothing left to make me believe

And to this day I wonder…
was it all just a dream?
