Lies

A microbe respires in the darkness,
the darkness on which a fly intrudes,
the fly that titters around the jagged edges
and it’s these edges that form a crack.
The crack runs, dashes and escapes through the broken brick,
a brick tentatively held with cement.
The cement that bonds, sticking the bricks edge to edge.

A structure so seemingly solid, but filled with crevices that tell its story-
hide its mistakes, suppresses its lies.
No one will alert you to the cracks, and the wall will stay strong until something comes knocks it...
And honey, my foot just made contact.
