The New Dawn

I can see the sun rising in the distance
As I wander through the darkness
Groping around for love's carcass
To offer to the sun in my absence

I dreamed I died last night
My heart was ripped out of my chest
I thought I saw her face in the light
But I then remembered that I am no longer blessed

I thought I heard the silence speaking
In the cold-hearted words of the new dawn
As I lay here, covered in the darkness, slowly aging
I stand alone, for my love has finally withdrawn

And escaped the hold that I had
With open eyes I could've kept her
But now she left my heart in a triad
And the course of my life she did alter

One piece of my heart was torn apart
And thrown into the sulfur of nothing
One piece remained of my heart
At least she left me with something

The final piece, I gave away
To her, with my utmost trust
Now, as I lay here, I regret that day
That I opened up when my life was at its bleakest

I never gave myself a chance to say thank you
For ripping out my beating heart
And tore it into three, through and through
Did you enjoy watching me perish as I fell apart?

Thank you for helping me believe in love
Only to tell me that it cannot be powerful
Though I was still your beloved
Now I know, that this thing called love, is null.

And forever more, this quiet heart shall perish
Upon a stone, now forgotten, it rests in peace
For it has lost everything that it thought it could cherish
And the blood rushing through this broken heart shall cease.
