Moonlight

Oh my sun where have you gone?
Have you spread your wings and flown to the new dawn
To find the allure of another’s burning light
Who you hope shall light up your blackened night

Have you wept tears for your broken and dissolved moon?
Or are your pains still withdrawn because no longer do you swoon
Under the shadow of the light you are no longer protected
Hence, in my eyes, I pray you are no longer detected

For pain shall sow itself upon my beating chest
As I look gallantly toward the promising west
For though you are gone, the sun shall rise once again
And shall shine so sweetly in the eyes of diluted men

For forevermore there shall be a new dawn
Though you are not there, my memories are not gone
For they have sown themselves like budding seeds
Into the forgotten words that nobody reads

As they are in the safe-keeping of our hands
They shall once day spread across various lands
In dust and ashes, for none other than us to see
Until one day, our hands shall set them both free

Though no longer shall my words hold levity
They shall not fall under the embrace of gravity
Budding wings shall form under my embrace
The songs of pain they shall no longer face

For they to shall look toward the western sky
And pray for where our hearts lead us until the end is nigh
Though our chapter has been written and read
My past sunlight, it is far from dead.

For in this book, the ending comes at our final breath
Its author, the same for all, ever-lasting death
For only he is the true ender of all stories
But his inclusion is the least of my worries

Oh my sun, have you truly left my favor?
With your truly perplexing behavior
But fear not, for there is a difference in these words
Shan’t they end once more in the bosom of discord

These words shall be heard beyond our grasps
Be they met with indifference or gasps
For never shall I fade from your heart
And though you have decided to part

Upon my heart, you have left an indelible mark
A mark that shines through the light of the dark
And pierces through the clouds above my face
For you have shown me, love is no longer a dream I can only chase.
