Butterfly Sent Free

She was always numb,
Never thought to run.
A corrupt picture of the world;
Everyday her world came crashing down.

The sun was a reminder;
A light from a fire.
She was always cold inside,
Always wanting to hide.

Forever a mile away,
Always keeping tears at bay.
Some days she would let her tears
come spiralling down

Friendship is just a word,
Something she had always heard.
She was always alone,
Never happy, not even in her own home

Always trying to find an escape;
Something to lead her away from this life.
Take her away from this strife.

She lost her faith in god,
Always fell to the floor.
Suffering from the hurt,
Why did she feel like dirt?

She turned her back with pills,
Falling to the ground, ill.
She didn’t want to confide.
Instead, she attempted suicide.

She left a note beside her bed,
Hoping for it to be found and read:
‘I breathed the air,
I did I swear!

It wasn’t for me,
So just leave me be.
Leave me on the floor,
Don’t call the ambulance,

My dear parent’s.
This is the end for me.
Life is like a book,
It’s recipe that needs to cook,

A light that stops it’s shine,
A person who will always say they’re fine.
You didn’t realise,
just how much I held back.’

She closed her eyes,
She drifted to sleep.
Her ears couldn’t hear a peep.
No longer she had to hear lies.

Her mother walked in,
She arrived home from the gym.
Her daughter is found on the ground,
Unconscious and sound.
