Dis-functional family.

Mommy left today.
Said she had some errands to run.
Mommy went away.
Maybe to go have some fun.

Daddy left so long ago.
Took a piece of us.
But we try not to let it show.
or make a fuss.

Eyes set to hide.
Mathematics to divide.
History to study.
Perhaps go see a buddy.

Mommy and Daddy are gone now.
If the grown ups could see us.
They'd all say "Wow"
as we hustle onto the bus.

Reaching for a hand that isn't there.
Looking at a back that is bare.
No money to buy the tools.
Who could pity such fools.

Could it be that we were meant for this.
Having food is such a bliss.
Given the chance
I'd take that dance.

Someone decided to put us at blame.
someone decided to call us that name.
Was it a power beyond our understanding.
Falling, hoping it's a soft landing.

Dirty hands beyond cleaning.
Cuts that wont stop bleeding.
Hopes crushed to a million pieces.
what they'd give for just one Reese's.

Hearts beyond mending.
The money, just keeps pending.
What's it gonna take.
for these little hearts to break.
