Just Another Pretty Face

Pretty faces only know lies
Perfection is only found on the outside
Broken, insecure, and torn
Her beauty rips her up just like a thorn
The mirror shows her what she wants to be
Inside her mind is pure insanity
She tells herself that she needs to be strong
But inside her heart, she knows that that’s wrong
As tears form in the corners of her eyes
She fears that they will ruin her disguise
She tried so hard to make everything seem fine
She can’t let anyone know about her rapid decline
She needs people to believe the lies she tells
So she can crawl further inside her shell
Nobody will understand her, they’ll call her a beast
Sometimes she wishes she were just deceased
She has one thing left to live for, and one thing left to lose
She can’t accept reality, the truth she will refuse
Everyone tells her it’s wrong, while inside her heart it’s right
But nobody will be with her as she cries herself to sleep tonight
One last time she looks at her reflection
But the only thing she sees in her face is rejection 
Red eyes and cheeks wet
She knows she has to force herself to forget
She’ll never be able to complete this impossible task
But she just has to deal and put on her oh so familiar mask
She’s beautiful, flawless, nobody will think anything’s the matter
While inside, her heart will shatter
Facing the world is easier said than done
She knows her miseries have only just begun
