Our Time Is Up

Up.

We are all killing ourselves
be it rapidly or slowly,
this pending death is inevitable
Because of all the meaningless things we do
and get attached to
that lead to our
fall.
We pay a strong price for our so-called 'minor' addictions:
Pot smoking, Facebooking, collecting or weight lifting--
we all have something that makes us tick
for reasons we can't explain.
And that ticking is like sand grains falling from an hourglass.
When all hit the bottom,
our time is
♠ ♠ ♠
This is a little darker than what I normally write, but I just finished watching Requiem for a Dream, and it made me realize (or more like recognize) that our human aspirations are all so pointless in the end, and how we can be driven mad by our addictions, dreams and goals. Especially if our dreams are for mal-intentions, or are merely selfish. The lives we lead are often terrible. Even though we're probably NOT as bad as the characters portrayed in that particular movie, we all still have some things about us that will cause us to die. Like for instance, simply becoming addicted to social networking or caffeine or work or whatever will cause us to obsess; it will make us all fools. Even if we think we physically feel better through our blind addictions, we're ultimately killing off our souls a little bit at a time when we become more and more reliant on the world system. We can never be filled with our addictions because all they can do is cause us to hunger, and continue to crave and crave to our destruction. Man is stupid because we think that we've got all under control, but in reality, it's far from that and things unravel before us 'til they fall apart.

Sort of rambled there, but just some musings about life. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but simply being honest.
