Despicable Me
Despicable Me
You care too much
You don't care enough
You ruin everything that you touch
You're self absorbed
You've no self esteem
You're cocky, angry, vindictive and mean
You squander your talent
You'll never succeed
You really should learn
To control all your greed
These are things heard on a frequent basis
So I think it's about time to face this
The fact of the matter
Is I never said
I was perfect, saintly, and never see red
That I never get jealous,
I never lose hope,
My faith doesn't hang by the end of a rope
I never implied
I was perfectly sane
That everything's kosher
Inside of my brain
That I never do anything that I regret
That I am a portrait of what you can respect
I'm perfectly willing to confess
That I freak out when under distress
And what you consider a minor thing
To me is an attack of my very being
I'm the first one to turn tail and run
Because none of the battles I've fought have I won
But can you really say
That you have no faults?
That you never feel inferior, wounded or lost?
Have you spoken in haste
When you should have calmed down
Or said something to someone that got twisted around?
I know the answer has to be yes
But yet I am the one who's measured as less
There are people out there
Who steal from strangers' homes
Cheat others their profits; let them suffer alone
I'm always the first
To help a mate in a jam
Or tell an insecure person If they try, then they can
You may not see all this
From an outsider's view
All you see at a glance is what I look like to you
At a shallow perspective
On a computer screen
You sit back in your chair and tell me I'm mean
Even though over time I have realized
That I may need some work to self actualize
And I should learn patience
Have faith all along
It's still not a stranger's job
To tell me I've gone wrong
If you look in a mirror
And truly assess
You'll see you're no better than any of the rest
You too have shortcomings
Quirks and faults
And it's not for you to teach me what I ought
So look at this world
At the corruption around
Turn on the news, and turn up the sound
And then I guarantee you
You're bound to see
There are people way worse...
than Despicable Me.
