Redemption

In the night I close my eyes and see if anything will change,
Hoping that when I open my eyes, my people will stop acting strange.
The bullets will cease, no war from the west to the east,
And no more bodies rotting in prison,
Why must we split like white light in a prism?
And spill sticky matter on the street of crimson?
Kill our brothers, sisters and cousins?
It’s like we came together to eat our own people with our decisions.

Carnivorous beings we have become, eating what theirs and mine,
When we began to truly believe that murder is not a crime.
Not only are we murdering, and mammas are hurting,
We are enslaving ourselves into the backwards world.
Where boys fuck boys then fuck our girls.
We lighten our skin, and flatten our curls.
Wishing we could switch racial worlds.
When will we begin to learn to love everything about ourselves?

But not to my surprise I open my eyes, and the same shit is happening.
