Boy who never cared.

She knew it was hopeless,
So why didn't she let go?
She knew he'd never love her.
So why she still cared, we'll never know.

He made her feel useless,
Yet she loved him just the same.
She'd do anything just to have some attention,
but to him, it was but a game.

He laughed at her in front of his friends,
she smiled and played along.
Yet her forced smile couldn't fool a blind man.
It was so evident that something was wrong.

One day, the girls patience snapped.
Oh, I wonder why?
She finally accepted that she was being played,
and oh, how she did cry.

Two days later, the girl was dead.
She preferred death to a lifetime of crying.
She'd convinced herself that without his love,
All she was worth was dying.

The funeral serice was held in the school chapel,
and he wasn't even there.
Later, he said he hadn't known.
They knew he just hadn't cared.

She'd loved him, and he couldn't even be bothered,
To come and say a final, honest word.
Maybe she could have rested in peace,
If she at least got the answers she deserved.

She leaves her friends grieving,
We are all dying inside.
And still, that one boy can't even pretend.
To care about the girl that died.
