You Are Safe

You were almost three and could not defend yourself
She was twenty-two and took your life
I know that nothing is fair in love and war
But her actions were sick, cruel, and unjust.

Three years is nowhere near a sufficent lifespan
You had no chance to grow, to learn
To make friends, to make memories
You didn't get to make any choices for your life.

I cannot imagine what was going through her mind
When she was doing those terrible things to you
Yet, she received no punishment for the things she did
The United States justice system did nothing for your memory.

She was your mother, she was supposed to love you
And teach you the proper things to live your life
But instead she did everything a mother should not
And I'm no mother, but it hurts me to hear your story.

Everyone needs a chance to live and make their own choices
She had no human right to take your life
She shouldn't be killed,
But someone should make her realize her mistake.

The one good things to come out of this?
You're in heaven with God, the angels, and saints.
From now into forever, you'll be safe.
You do not need to worry, she can never reach you.

She'll never be where you are now.
You're safe to live and grow in heaven.
I hope to meet you someday
And see what a beautiful person you've grown to be.
