Places To Hide

I’m not going to wake up
Ruin my slumber only to make up
Facts about what I wish happened
That day, that night my life was fractured

Some may say it’s a learning curve
I say it’s a bash to the nerves
Shaky hands, bloodshot eyes
You ask me if I’m alright
Let’s go down town
Where my stomach turned right round
Forget that anything even arose
When my own shadow trod on my toes

Have you lost your senses now?
You need to get to the ground
Right back here where it last kicked off
Sometimes life can be too tough
Consequences make us who we are
But I’m trying not to go too far
Off the rails and onto the tracks
I can never change the facts
Scenario’s turn to dust
But I still make all the fuss
To try and turn back time to then
To every time I can’t amend

Just don’t look at me
I’m too ashamed
To admit that I was to blame
Every bad decision was mine
That’s why I find places to hide
