fall

Even the strongest at some point fall
And await the death that comes to us all.
Without hope, some lose their faith
While others try to show them the way
And those who follow will find their peace
As those who doubt fall to eternal sleep.

As the tide changes again and again
We all await the final end.
While people give their very lives
In hope that loved ones will survive
The hellfire that is soon to come
And will consume all and watch us burn.

As the fever of death that fills our veins
Leads us all into a rage
Murderous bloodlust fills the streets
And haunts the places children sleep
Mothers kill in fear of sin
Not yet committed, still the devil wins
Fathers, heedless, head off to war
Leaving families in search of "more"
Wanting false glory, of which there is no need
Wanting "glory" for such horrid deeds

The death toll rises, as does the waste
We fill this earth with wanton haste
And ruin lands once held dear
Ignoring instinct and rightful fear
We harm and take all that we want
But this only leads to wanting more
And caring about others becomes a chore.
As a youngling girl cries out in shame
At the acts committed while none are sane
The death of a youngest son
Her brother, so bright and far too young
His life taken by the crazed
His own father in a drunken haze
A bottle lay against his head
And very soon, he is dead
She cries out in primal fear
As her mother's end is also near
Her father, he is still insane
He does not realize what he became
But will know by morning's come
That he killed his wife and only son
And in another drunken rage of fear
He will lose all that he holds dear
His brightest star, his shining sun
That little blue eyed girl
Still so new, still so young

New enough that she still knows
She is simply a body with a soul
As her last breath leaves her lungs
Her voice carried to his ears
"I love you daddy"
Brings him to tears
He holds her as her spirit fades,
Then digs the three a single grave
Embraced in their mother's arms
So peaceful despite their deadly harm
And on his daughters face he sees
A sight that brings him to his knees
A smile, and forgiveness for what he's done
To this family, this girl, this life.
His loving son and gentle wife

They three know what he does not
A fact his brain simply forgot
This life was not their first, nor their last
And bonds between souls
Are not fragile like glass
They will see each other once again
And next time, with a not so bitter an end
The drunk, he senses some of this
And peace gives him a kind of bliss
So when his time has finally come
He welcomes death like warmth from the sun
And is returned to that daughter, son and wife
That are his through each and every life.

This we all seem to deny
This truth that we always try to hide
We are just souls
This is just one life
There is no cause for so much strife.
Its only harm to the souls within
Souls that have no true end.
