You'd Think

You'd think that after awhile, the pain would end,
That the ache in your heart would stop,
The throbs of you body would expire,
And the depressing thoughts would be no more.

You'd think it'd be possible to get over self demeaning thoughts,
Self consious attitude,
And the fear of abandonment.

You'd think that I'd be capable of speaking up,
Coming out of my shell,
Breaking down my walls,
And to trust others.

You'd think that I wasn't afraid to be myself around you.
