Simply Inspired

Once upon a time writers were diseased with writer’s block
It was a very terrible condition, and to this day
There is only one known solution, rare though it is
Inspiration can get any struggling author on her feet

Personally, I have several sources of it in stock
There’s poetry, sweet succulence, times so gay
And filled with laughter. Stories by the best in the biz
Can all help you, with writer’s block, to compete

Sometimes it’s a single quotation that sets your mind in motion
Other times a solid word, a pretty picture, a rare item
But for me, there’s usually one that tops all other attempts
For me, music is what inspires me most of all

Soulful lyrics, picked guitar strings, tender emotion
Excellent beats and rhythms and flow, a musical gem
They set creativity free, thousands of inspired paths to tempt
Me into a hidden stair, secret passage, or unfortunate wall

They give me something to concentrate on
It allows my muse to be free, do what she will
Music, more than anything, helps me make it through
All the tiny rough patches I so often encounter

If it weren’t for music, all my creativity’d be gone
Completely tapped, expired, used, and spilled
So everyday I thank God for giving me drive and music, too
Because nothing’s better than writer’s block as a creative downer
