Candy-Covered Everything

A small child always sees
the world as candy-coated everything
no one ever wants to tell a little kid
the truth with out sweating it up a ton

I remember thinking that the
world was perfect and nothing
could hurt me because the
world was candy-coated everything

Maybe it's because I live in America
Were the last war fought on our soil
was the one the one that formed our country
and that we, more then any other places,

Candy-coat everything for the kids
it is one of the worst things to do
because then when they grow up
they are shocked by the horrid truth

We in America have learned how to
candy-coat murder, rape, molestation,
suicide, theft, rage, discrimination,
abandonment, and abuse

I am so glad that I live in the sweetest
country of all, America, where we live,
breathe, sleep, eat, and teach
Candy-coated everything
