A Poet's Rambling

Of course I know how to rhyme,
You'll find I do this all the time--
I'll write in sonnets and verses
But with occasional curses.
Using careful alliteration
--No I don't need medication--
This isn't an addiction,
Or a troubled confliction--
Just a simple expression
Of my thoughts and affection.
So you say I need writer's rehab--
Then forgive me my 'gift of gab'.
Pouring out stanzas in a New York minute--
Find the similes I hid within it.
Or maybe you'll find a metaphor,
Counting the syllables--one, two, three, four.
But we know there's much more...
So my friend, I'll show you the door--
Before you become lost at the insanity
Which makes a poet lose touch with reality.
