TEENAGERS

It's all fun and games 'cept when it's not
And the pen drops
Releasing a slew of names and bullets
That hail down on you head.
You finish your drugs and experience with your homework
The world so large so many MILES away
The school halls reek with the stench of disappointment and the choking smell of LOSER
It reminds you of you.
The others swim down the halls so not like you, so not one of you
THEY blink as you do and it all fades away
A line was crossed way back when and still now engraved
In the broken cement of backpacks and note passing,
THEY want to just rip off the masks that are morphed into their skin
'Cept it burns and hurts and why go through all the trouble?
You're all tired and lonely and horny and hurting.
Trying to entomb your selves in coffins
Some academic
Some in alcoholic tombs,
Some laugh it all into the dirt until it stops, until it ceases
Some in the legs of others
Some just entomb themselves
And others somehow manage to magically trek through it.
The elders look the other way cause village creatures do villager things and that's just that.
You try to step over it but often get caught in it
And you want the world to bow down to you, to decay away, to feel just a little-
Just one OUNCE of the pain that you felt.
So you swallow your tears and fear and dust your shoulders off, you're young
Healthy you've got so much to live for
It's just harmful fun, a little teasing, no big deal
After all, it's Just high school and you'll get over it
Everyone does,
Everyone gets over High School.

This poem is a moment of silence for TEENAGERS- the ones who are bullied, dead, and murdered. Who have committed suicide or thought of it.

For the outcasts, the lonely, the hurt, the pained, the happy, the sad.

TEENS who feel neglected and miserable, who feel unloved, ugly, fat, stupid, like losers, like they're worse than dirt, like they don't matter, like the whole world doesn't give a DAMN. This is for them and everyone else who is a witness to it, a victim of it or a supporter.

This is for the 4,643 young. lost. souls.
