Poke the Sky

She couldn't be more aware of the truth
Cracked and chipped like a broken tooth
With these virgin hearts meant to be broken
And all those words yet to be spoken

Memories forever marking her skin
Fueling the fire that burns within
Suffering the effect of a cause unknown
Preachers, teachers, mothers drone
About the habits we refuse to embrace
Plastic mask over plastic face

Spinning lies she can't undo
Afraid to hear the honest truth
Dreams blurring with reality
Turning to sin, losing morality
Laugh it off to hide the ache
No one will know, till she finally wakes

Sweet sarcasm cures the soul
‘Specially when it’s all you know
Kills her lungs till she’s way too high
Who needs a reason why?

Sinking in-between destiny's jaws
Flashing lights on all her flaws
Down and out till yesterday
Poke the sky while she floats away
