Children Of The Summer

The days grow shorter now,
Vibrant colours fade to green and brown.
Draw jackets tight as breezes swirl around.

Days of winter and autum,
Slowly time stumbles in tedium,
The children of the summer pass on their crowns...

The endless summer days,
Wasted hours caressed by the sun,
A time and place where all our worries ceased.

We were children of the summer,
Time and space at our beck and call,
Now daylight fades behind our backs and the children of summer fall...
