Daniel

There’s a thump in my stomach that wasn’t there before,
The thump of a heart,
A heart with the ability to love and hate,
But it came all too late,

For in you there is no longer a beat,
In your eyes the skies don’t glisten,
And her eyes too are faded green,
Lost in thoughts of what has been,

Why should life need a life?
Why should death be so kind?
Why can’t two survive?
Why can’t your futures collide?

The dull thump with in my stomach will grow,
And soon will be something I can hold,
So why won’t you be able,
To grow up and see my dear sweet Daniel?
