The Golden West

there's a world out west
where the sun never sets
and the people don't smile
though they're the happiest that
they've ever been in a while

there's no fashion there
no high heeled shoes or skin tight jeans
no closet blues or gray in betweens
instead they wear the moon and
the stars across their seams

no buildings in sight here
there's no house or apartments
but mother nature is home
there's no money or loaning pents
but the riches are felt deep in their bones

because in that field of souls blessed
in that world out west
beyond the oceans and islands
isn't a place on our maps
or a city with past plans

the people that live there
they don't speak like you and I
and yet they will listen
to your restless dreaming
throughout the starry night
