We Wait in Expectation

When I was young I wanted to be royal
How lovely that would have been!
But now that I’m older I work and I toil
Yet still my heart dreams of royalty within

Dare I try to explain it or determine it here?
I shan’t get very far
Though its best friend’s the mirror

But this, my dear, is not so bad
It’s beautiful in my eyes
For when I think of my sweet lad
I know he understands my sighs

Every man longs to be great
He longs to be a knight
And demolish the envy and hate
So he wears no fear and prepares to fight

If destitute becomes his friend
He will continue his race
If he sees no hope in the end
Death he will not fear to taste

And so life goes on
With a dream within our hearts
An when we think it’s gone
It pierces our heart like a dart

So what do we do?
We wait in expectation
Oh heart, we wait for you
To embrace no limitation
