The Rain Pours Down

The rain pours down,
No longer able
To find a place
Not already soaked.

The rain pours down
As I sit on this bench
Here in the dark,
Holding the rose
He once gave me.

The rain pours down,
Beating at the rose.
The drops that fall
From the petals
Turn so black
They match his heart.

The rain pours down
And rids my hands
Of the blood flowing
Around the thorns,
The only pain
I still feel.

The rain pours down
As the memories fly,
Reminding me
Of what we had,
Reminding me
Of what we lost.

The rain pours down,
No longer able
To find a place
Not already soaked.
The rain runs down
As I sit on this bench
Here in the dark,
Holding the rose
He once gave me.

The rain pours down,
Beating at the rose,
Until at least
The petals drop
And scatter on the ground
Like the shards of my heart,
Never to be whole again.
