Skies Above

These shining shadows emit the light of those who wish to fly
and those who knew not where dimmed truths lie
their starlit beams spiral down their concave
shall they desire to join the clouds when they cry
or do they fight upon their own grounds and forget what they cannot save

Their palisade of wonder crashes down under the might of thunder
fruitless endeavors escape from the might of the azure sky
as did the trust we held when we looked toward these skies in awe-less wonder
we were so lost in the sound that fell upon us like an ocean’s wave
walking throughout these dreams which dragged and pulled us under

Send this heart into the sky above, and show me where dimmed truths lie
I grieve to you, my starlit muse walking through the shadows of life’s cave
as only you know the true pain these spirals in the sky face when they fly
while enlisting the seeds within me to sew upon the light shining upon my grave
your serenade entrenches within me to the troubles times that shan’t die

With a fragile heart and a teetering edge within the sky’s enclave
falling through these shadows and being thrown asunder
upon this life-giving spiral that forgives me not and allows me to die
as light falls upon the ruination found within the lines upon my face
I perish upon the very same ground that began my life upon this place
